Nita Vollmer - Retirement

Congratulations, Nita!

As of May 31, 2022, Brown Edwards’ partner, Nita Vollmer will be officially retired!

Nita’s journey as being part of Brown Edwards has many paths. She initially joined Brown Edwards’ Bluefield, WV office in 1980 as an associate right out of college. Over the following 19 years, she transferred to Abingdon and Bristol. In 1999 she joined Dent K. Burk Associates, which merged with Brown Edwards in 2015.

During her 40+ years of professional accounting and tax experience, Nita helped small businesses and their owners achieve their financial and individual goals including succession planning for the next generation.

“My feelings towards retirement are bittersweet. I love the people I work with and the clients I serve and will miss working with them but on the other hand, I’m looking forward to retirement and I can’t believe I am this old!”

Nita enjoys her community involvement with the Birthplace of Country Music, which has three branches, The Birthplace of Country Music Museum, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion Festival and Radio Bristol. “I feel that the work I’ve done on this board, and the building of the museum, has helped to revitalize downtown Bristol. I plan to stay very active in the organization.”

She has been preparing for retirement by collecting cross-stitch, beading, wool felting, and knitting projects to fill her time. Her husband says she has more projects than can be completed in three or four lifetimes! She also plans to build a she-shed to create a workspace and get her projects organized. Nita also has plans to improve her physical fitness by riding her e-bike on the Creeper Trail and other places.

Please join us in congratulating Nita on this wonderful milestone!
