# AICPA Coalition Recommends PPP Applicants Use Gross Payroll Approach In Calculations

**APRIL 6, 2020**

After the additional guidelines Treasury and the Small Business Administration (SBA) issued on Thursday, the AICPA-led small business funding coalition, in conjunction with the National Payroll Reporting Consortium (NPRC), has recommended the Gross Payroll approach should be used when calculating the Average Monthly Payroll cost for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application.
