We interviewed Jennifer to get to know her, outside of her profession, and we were surprised to learn that her hair used to be straight - and having 3 kids gave her curls and lots of them!
Where are you from and where did you grow up?
I grew up on a beef cattle farm in Botetourt County, Virginia. I am blessed that my parents gave me about 2 acres of land where we built a house in 2012. I truly live at my favorite place.
What are some of your hobbies?
I love being with my husband and 3 kids. With my youngest now heading to Virginia Tech, time with our children isn't as much as it used to be. I'm a pretty simple person. I like going on walks, taking short trips to the mountains and kayaking.
What's the next place on your travel bucket list and what will you do there??
Maine - The goal will be to see as much of the state as possible and relaxing some along the way.
What's the last book you read or what is your favorite book/series you ever read and why?
I hate to admit it, but I"m not a big reader. I would rather be doing something else, most of the time. When I do read, I"ll typically pick a mystery. John Grisham normally has something I will enjoy.
EL (short for - Enjoy Life) My superpower would be to help people, including myself, enjoy life every day possible because we're only here once.
What is one food you can’t live without and why??
Steak - the beef industry put me through college plus you can't beat the taste.
If you knew you were going to be stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you bring with you?
Water, food and my husband to endure it with me.
Why did you choose a career in public accounting?
When I was in high school, I worked for a small CPA firm after school. One of the partners encouraged me to go into accounting. I liked the logic of accounting. As for what I like most, I love the variety and being able to help people solve problems or make their life easier.
